Samples that integrate master pages
On many occasions I have discovered samples and even videos that present excellent content and functionality of ASP technologies. What I later find out is that the solutino or samples were not implemented, for example in some cases, with the use of a master page, or master page within a master page. And in order to get anything to work from the sample multi layers of control searches are required. I'm not sure how to over come this but perhaps some brain-storming would reveal some method to clearly understand that a sample project or video is not intend for use…

Segoe UI looks bad without ClearType
Arial, Helvetica, Verdana (from the old site) all look much better without ClearType enabled. Segoe UI looks bad, really bad.

fallback font-family should be Arial, not Tahoma
In the CSS, we see: "...font-family: 'Segoe UI', Tahoma, Arial...". Please consider either moving Arial ahead of Tahoma as the fallback, or removing Tahoma altogether. This I'm sure will come off as an overstatement, but seeing the site in Tahoma ruins it for me both aesthetically and in terms of legibility. There's a reason you don't see Scott Hanselman's re-design in Tahoma; it just wouldn't be as good as Arial.

Named anchors in tutorials
Used named anchors in the tutorials so we can cite specific sections of long tutorials when answering questions in the user forums.
14 votesThis is a great suggestion. We will update our user education guidance documentation on how to author content for the site.

Full width layout
Try and make the website full width? Most developers today have pretty large screens.

Better searching of code samples, VB vs C# in the Forums for example.
It would nice to have the option to exclude solutions or searches based on code base.

Better point scoring
Points might be provided on the quality or completeness of providing a full solution. Like if the problem was posted requesting help in VB, a C# solution wont get points. Like wise a link to an off site web page would not get as high of points.

ASP.NET CUSTOMERS
I don't find it relevant to have ASP.NET customers section in the Get Started especially taking a big part of the page.

A better slogan for homepage
I'd say "Web Development with Power, Productivity & Speed" is a long one. If there is a marketing team at Microsoft that has proposed this, then that's fine, otherwise, I'd suggest to have a shorter slogan, but don't ask me what 'cause I'm not good at it ;-)

Background graphic on 27-30" monitors
When I maximize the browser on a 27" 2560 px wide monitor it looks like a rather abrupt drop off in the background image.

Simplify the homepage.
I believe that the homepage can be much simpler than this. Other than the ads that is already mentioned, some other items can be removed to make it more precise. I don't know if there is any statistics on the highest interests for the visitors on the site, but it's good to stick to them. I don't think the latest announcements and blog posts are the top interests for all visitors.

banner
Instead of having the banner take up over 1/3rd of the real estate, offer two choices along with the rss feed in the middle and no ads. The two choices are new developer and existing developer. From the new fork, you walk through the step by step stuff, from the existing fork you can break it down further to beginner, intermediate, or advance, or no break down and provide all the videos, including the older ones. If you don't like the older ones, then redo them using modern standards and the newest version of visual web developer express. Never understood…

LInk to last reply
It will be better if we have link to last reply of a post.
